| Description: | NO AUDIO Survivors of the Aberfan disaster, which killed 144 people, 116 of the dead were children and 28 adults, all victims of a slag landslide in the Welsh mining village of Aberfan, are laid to rest in a hillside cemetery. The school and about two dozen houses were covered by the slide. The mass funeral draws thousands of mourners who have joined bereaved relatives and other survivors, rescue workers, coal minors and people of the village A giant cross of flowers overlooks the single, trench grave. Establishing shot - An aerial shot of the village, camera pans and you see a giant cross. MS - It looks like a road of flowers, approximately 4-feet wide, and the camera pans up the hill only to find out that it is a giant cross made of flowers. MS - Four gentlemen and a boy somewhere in the age range of 12 to 14 yrs walking up the incline of the village street carrying flowers, other people following behind some carrying floral arrangements. MS - Four ministers walking to the gave site. High Angle Shot - Throngs gather at Aberfan cemetery, the participants share in their grief and stress. High Angle Shot - As the camera pans you see people holding prayer books. High Angle Shot - Down the center of the floral cross lay many coffins in a mass grave with people lined on either side of the trench. | |
