Description:WINDMILL GIRLS AND CATAMARAN The Windmill Girls go sailing in a do-it-yourself catamaran they constructed in their dressing room.

London's West End.

M/S of two Windmill Girls dressed in blouses and knickers sitting back stage in their dressing room. One girl is powdering her nose, the other is reading a book titled 'Plain Sailing' and fiddling with a piece of rope. C/U of another Windmill Girl, Ruth Calvert, chatting. M/S of a group of scantily dressed Windmill Girls sitting on and around a half constructed catamaran parked in their dressing room - "without any boat-building experience, the girls have collaborated to construct a 'do-it-yourself' catamaran". M/S of the girls working on the boat: looking at the book, unravelling the ropes and sails and passing around bits of the mast. Two of the girls exit to perform on stage - the narrator explains, "usually, the girls spend about ten minutes on stage, followed by twenty minutes off: magazines, crossword puzzles and knitting are all right in their way to fill in spare time - but they are not really that constructive". The remaining girls fix together the mast and boom - "another incentive is the prospect of a change of scenery - white capped waves instead of the bald pates of tired businessmen". C/U of Iris White bending over. C/U of the boom being fixed in place, tilt up to Ruth as she turns to pick up the sail cloth. Tilt down to show her hands attaching the sail to the mast. M/S of Iris pulling the sail to the end of the boom. Low angle shot of Ruth and another girl at work on the boat. Low angle C/U of Iris threading rope onto the boom - "it must be difficult to rush away and go through a complex dance routine while your thoughts are centred on the art of sailing close to the wind, but they seem to have managed". M/S of all the girls in a whirl of activity around the boat. Exterior. M/S of the girls, now dressed more sensibly, carrying the catamaran through the doors of the Windmill Theatre. C/U of a plump cleaning lady watching them with a smile. M/S of the girls fixing the boat onto a trailer. C/U of Windmill Girl, Jackie Joy, watching the others from the front seat of her open topped car. A panning shot follows the girls as they walk from the trailer to get into the red convertible (a 200 cc Nobel minicar). M/S of two girls climbing onto a scooter. M/S of the red car driving off way from the Windmill Theatre pulling the trailer, close behind are the two girls on the scooter. They are watched by men in mackintoshes hanging around the theatre entrance. C/U of one of the men looking on.

Richmond, London.

Exterior. M/S of a tree lined section of the River Thames with children swimming in it. Panning shot to the red car pulling up on an area of beach. The girls get out and set about releasing the catamaran from the trailer. M/S of the two girls getting off the scooter. M/S of the girls lifting the catamaran into the water - "the catamaran, a seven foot eight inch 'Firecrest', has been built for less than thirty pounds". M/S of the girls raising the sails - "well, shiver my timbers, slap me with marlinespikes (and all sorts of other jolly nautical expressions) the thing seems to work all right". M/S of Jackie leaning against her car looking on. M/S, taken from the river bank, of two of the girls - Wendy Clarke and Pat Patterson - sailing the catamaran. M/S of Iris White and another girl laughing and watching their friends sailing. M/S of the catamaran sailing. Panning shot, circling the two girls in the boat, getting gradually closer.
