| Description: | "Bagdad - WITH THE R.A.F. IN THE NEAR EAST - Exclusive pictures by our cameraman now traveling in the East." Mosul & Bagdad, Iraq. Formation of RAF (Royal Air Force) Westland Wapiti light bomber aircraft of No 55 Bomber Squadron taking off. The biplanes make various very tight formations in the air. This is an air display in honor of Sir Francis Humphrey who has come to visit their base in Mosul, Northern Iraq, from the capital Bagdad (Baghdad). Sir Frances flew his own plane (a Leopard Moth) to Mosul. Sir Frances with his son and daughter watching the air display. They pose for the Pathe cameraman, and Sir Francis jokes around a bit. Sir Frances in cockpit of his plane ready to return home. Plane takes off. Sir Frances' plane is escorted by the squadron. Multiple very good shots of the planes flying in formation over Iraq. Planes flying over Bagdad (which is not seen very clearly, but is behind the aircraft; at least according to the commentator) forming V. | |
