| Description: | WORLD'S RECORD LIFT. 52,022 ton Cunarder 'Berengaria' raised high and dry in 2 hours in mammoth floating dock. Southampton, Hampshire. Various L/Ss of an ocean liner moving slowly onto a floating dock - the dock is a gigantic u-shaped vessel, the flat bottom sits under the sea allowing ships to sail onto it. L/S of the liner sitting on the dock - its entire hull is out of the water, smaller boats sail around the dock dwarfed by its enormity. M/S of the ships propeller resting on scaffolding while men make repairs, tilt up to show vast rudder. (Some white spacing follows). L/S of workers walking on the bottom of the floating dock which has now been lifted out of the water, the colossal hull of the ship towers over them. L/S of the space between the hull of the ship and the metal side of the floating dock. More shots of the ship sailing onto the floating dock guided by tug boats. L/S of the ocean liner in the floating dock taken from the quayside at Southampton, two little girls walk past the camera in the foreground. Various L/Ss of the ship in dock taken from the quayside. More shots of men working on the propeller, some appear to be cleaning it. More shots of the ship coming into the dock. C/U of the water lapping around the bow of the ship - the water level visibly drops. M/S of men in a rowing boat moored next to the hull of the ship, they use shovels to scrape the seaweed and gunk from the hull. Brief shots of the bow and of the entire ship in the dock. | |
