| Description: | World War One; military medicine. Another of Pathe's Wounded at Sport stories. Shot of several wounded soldiers at recreation in the yard of a convalescent home or Army hospital; two of them are practicing their putting; while 2 others are playing ring toss (quoits); and 1 of each pair is hopping about on one leg. Pan over to more wounded soldiers reclining on a slope watching the games; and a few nurses standing behind. Back to the golf and ring-toss (quoits). Next the race LS of several of the soldiers lined up while the others and the nurses watch. One of the soldiers; wearing a kilt; sort of leaps out in a silly way and waves down a white handkerchief; as if bringing down a flag to start a race. They come hopping and hobbling along; toward camera; and the most enthusiastic hopper gets carried away and falls over. Others continue--one guy hopping like mad; a few others only walking slowly. The fallen man is either cheerfully grinning or grimacing in pain. A nurse comes running around from the house carrying 2 pairs of crutches. Many of the veterans are amputees learning to adjust to their disability. | |
