| Description: | September 1938 - the Eastern Seaboard is lashed by a tropical hurricane. For two days the coast, from New Jersey to New England felt its full fury. New York was whipped by 70-mile-an-hour winds and the raging sea poured millions of tons of water far inland. Three hundred million dollars was a conservative estimate of the damage. Six hundred people died in the storm. (storm, aerial, aftermath) Pouring down rain on a city street, the year September 1938. MS - A 1938 Florida highway with some light traffic. MCUS - New York city flooded street scene and the rain is coming down hard. MOHS - A stalled car on a flooded New York street. MLS - Two men walking in the flooded street and it look's like their wearing raincoats. MCUS - The ocean waves breaking over the flood walls. MS - Over flooded river bank and trees where the water is over the half way mark. MCUS - The first story of a house is completely engulfed by flooding water. MS - Silhouettes of firemen fighting a fire in New London, Connecticut. MCUS - Beached ships blown on to the beaches by the hurricane. Aerial shot - Flooded streets and a burning building. MCUS - Crowded street and the military holding the people back. MS - Overturned car, a car destroyed by falling parts of a building. MCUS - Uprooted trees. MCUS - A car with a fallen tree on it and another shot of another tree with a tree fallen on it. MS - Wreckage of boats washed up and piled in the water by a fishing pier. MOHS - Men working on their fishing boats that were damaged by the hurricane. MCUS - A sailboat that looks parked in front of a meat market. Aerial shots - The aftermath of the hurricane and a derailed train. MS - A car that was carried off by the hurricane and the front of the car is jammed into a small hill side.
