This year marks the 50th
anniversary of the landmark
Supreme Court decision in Brown
v. Board of Education.
The ruling radically changed the
landscape of public education in
the United States. It declared
that racial segregation in
public schools - a fact of life
for many American children - was
"unequal." It also propelled the
nation into a series of social
changes which were celebrated by
some citizens and protested by
others.
Fifty years later we look back
at this significant civil rights
case, the people involved and
the effects it produced even
years afterward.
