When The Beatles came to
America in 1964 they
launched a revolution in
popular culture. They also
paved the way for their
countrymen to find success
abroad. Many British
groups became household
names on both sides of the
Atlantic. Their musical
and cultural influence
reverberates even today.
In addition to other
archival sources, the WPA
Film Library exclusively
represents the 1960s music
show “Hullabaloo.” Not all
guests came from the UK,
of course, but the program
featured numerous British
Invasion performers. From
The Animals to The
Zombies, Peter & Gordon to
Freddie & the Dreamers,
all the big names came to
play – yes, even The
Beatles.
