Allied troops take the beach at Anzio, Italy.

It was a year of turning points in Europe. The Soviets freed the city of Leningrad; Allied forces entered Rome; and a massive, famous attack was launched on the coast of France. For the sixtieth anniversary of D-Day, WPA remembers key scenes from Europe in 1944.

The many different footage collections represented by WPA provide unique viewpoints on the war and make WPA an excellent source for World War Two material.
