The super pro-big business Taft Hartley Act limited the power of unions in several ways - -made them liable to breach of contract damages after disputes, mandated a 60 day cooling off period for strikes, outlawed the closed shop, allowed the government to enforce an 80-day injunction against strikes that were determined to endanger the national health or safety, outlawed political contributions by unions and even required union leaders to take non-Communist oaths!
