Congress Adjourns Ending 13 Billion Dollar Session
Shaky, blurry dull in contrast and imagery The nation's law makers end first session of the 76th congress which was marked by stormy battles with President Roosevelt and the adoption of the biggest budget in the peacetime history of country. (Seems like Congress is attempting to move away from New Deal era.) Statement made by one of the congressmen: "On the whole it has been a hard working, constructive Congress. It has not been all that some people would have wished. It has done more than others expected. On the whole it has done a good job." Another congressman speaks: "The present Congress has declared its independence. It has voted the opinion of the people whom it represents. It is no longer a rubber stamp. It has repudiated the theory that the nation can spend itself into prosperity. But we must go on, reduce federal expenses and taxation, reduce bureaucratic regulation of agriculture, commerce and industry. America must and can go to work."
